Ceylon Teas

Tea production is one of the main sources of trade for Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon). The humidity, cool temperatures, and rainfall in the country's central highlands provide a climate that favours the production of high quality tea.

Tea covers an area of the island of some 4,000 square miles and is picked throughout the year, although the best qualities are usually manufactured in February. Ceylon teas are universally renowned for their flavour and character and are a popular choice at Northern Tea Merchants.
