Created to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Chesterfield’s beautiful Queen’s Park. This espresso blend is 100% Arabica, which gives it a dramatic depth of flavour.
Queen’s Park, Chesterfield was officially opened to the public on 2nd August 1893, with the cricket pitch being inaugurated in 1894 and the pavilion in 1898.
In 1910 the park was used for King George V coronation parade. Subsequently further renovations and improvements included a bandstand and a conservatory that had been acquired from Chatsworth House. During the second World War the railings around the park were removed for the war effort and the conservatory converted to food production.
To this day Queens Park is one of the focal points of Chesterfield and is used not only for recreation by local residents but is also home to Chesterfield Cricket Club and plays host to Derbyshire County Cricket Club. WG Grace and Don Bradman have both played here and Queens Park has been called the loveliest Cricket Ground in the country.
Proud as we are of Chesterfield, it seems only natural for us to offer a blend that commemorates this famous part of our favourite Town.
We started with what we thought were the best origins for espresso blends mainly Guatemala, Brazil and India and blended them such that they complement each other perfectly. The Guatamalan Antigua in this blend brings spice, wine and fruit to the cup, with further sweet fruit flavours being added by the Indian element in this coffee. The carefully selected Brazilian coffee for this blend brings a hint of cocoa sweetness and we roast these three coffees together to a fairly dark French-roast in the tradition of many original espresso blends. The roast depth brings power and strength, and the ingredients bring flavour and sweetness, combined this gives, in our opinion, one of the best 100% Arabica blends that we supply.
