Discover more about Tea By Origin
Although tea has its origins in China almost 5,000 years ago, tea drinking proved so popular it has spread throughout the world. In fact, it is the UK’s most popular drink.
The tea industry employs more than 18 million people worldwide and is worth around USD$40.5bn.
The tea plant is an evergreen, tropical plant from the Camellia family and grows best in regions which enjoy a warm, humid climate with a rainfall measuring at least 100 centimetres a year. And like wine, where tea is grown influences its taste.
Discover below a wide range of teas, all personally sourced from China, Africa, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam, by Northern Tea Merchants’ own James Pogson.
