When the temperature is high, there’s nothing better than a glass of freshly made iced coffee. It’s the perfect way to enjoy your favourite beans in a whole new way and keep cool too.
Making iced coffee at home is well worth the effort, and below we’ve put together everything you need to make the perfect iced brew:
Ingredients for 2
475ml freshly brewed cooled coffee
4tbsp full cream milk or milk of choice
100grams granulated sugar
475ml water
Ice-cubes
Optional 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method
Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan, heating on medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Once dissolved remove from heat and at this point add the vanilla extract if required and thoroughly stir. Decant the syrup, cool and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
Making the drinks
Fill 2 tall glasses with ice, add half the coffee and milk to each. Sweeten with the syrup prepared earlier, 1 tablespoon at a time to taste. Enjoy!
Iced Coffee Brewing Hints
- Using a dark-roast coffee can impart bitterness and charcoal notes, so would recommend using a medium roast coffee, for example our El Savador San Ernesto Natural Coffee, Daterra Bourbon Collection, Costa Rica Las Palomas Honey Preparation or Indian Mysore Plantation A Coffee, each work really well in iced coffees.
- Always use room temperature or chilled coffee to begin!
- Experiment with flavours – use your favourite flavoured syrup in place of the vanilla extract.
