Product Description

One of the finest teas to ever leave India, in many people’s opinion, Darjeeling First Flush is made from the first ‘flushing’ or growth of the tea bush, which occurs usually between early March and mid April and is the first growth of new shoots, after the plant has laid dormant for a couple of months. A lovely light, very palatable, almost heavenly flavour! A very popular leaf grade of this tea is FTGFOP1 (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe No. 1), but this can be easily remembered by thinking Darjeeling is “Far Too Good For Ordinary People!” First, flush teas are highly sought after and very expensive. We have secured some Thurbo Estate tea which, we are sure you’ll agree, is simply excellent. A masterpiece of the tea-makers art.

We sell 3 types of Darjeeling Tea, namely this 1st flush, a 2nd flush Darjeeling and a mid-season Darjeeling Tea.

1st flush Darjeeling is a low-volume, expensive, high-quality tea which is harvested in mid-march following the spring rains and has a very light colour, a gentle astringency and a delightful aroma. In the cup, a good 1st flush is highly aromatic, with a fragrant flavour and beautiful floral bouquet.
