Where is Spring?

Has it decided to give us a miss this year, or will we be heading straight into Summer in June?

One thing this spate of poor weather has made me appreciate is how much I enjoy each of the three pots of tea that I drink every day.

The last 12 months have been extraordinary for Northern Tea Merchants and have proved particularly complicated and long-winded in getting through.

I have found myself subconsciously turning to tea as a panacea and a comfort. Tea is a great support in ‘interesting’ times and the following quotes have all come to mind at one point or another in the last 12 months, whilst I have been enjoying my chosen brew of our Small Leaf Assam Pekoe Fannings or Longjing Dragonwell Sencha.

“If you are cold, tea will warm you; if you are too heated, it will cool you; if you are depressed, it will cheer you; if you are excited, it will calm you.” William Ewart Gladstone

“There is something in the nature of tea that leads us into a world of quiet contemplation of life.” Lin Yutang

“The spirit of the tea beverage is one of peace, comfort, and refinement.” Arthur Gray

“Teatime is a chance to slow down, pull back and appreciate our surroundings.” Letitia Baldridge

“Making tea is a ritual that stops the world falling in on you.” Jonathon Stroud

Some people will tell you there’s a great deal of poetry and fine sentiment in a chest of tea.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Tea is indeed a beverage of many virtues!
