Product Description

Darjeeling is situated 6,000 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Himalayas in North-East India. Its monsoon climate and soil type contribute to the distinctive and flavorful characteristics of Darjeeling Second Flush. Discerning tea drinkers often prefer second flush Darjeelings as the plants have been able to ‘get going’ by the time they put forth the second flushing of leaves after the monsoon.

We sell 3 types of Darjeeling Tea, namely a 1st flush Darjeeling, this 2nd flush Darjeeling and a mid-season Darjeeling Tea.

2nd flush Darjeeling is usually harvested late May to June and produces an amber coloured, fuller bodied, slightly less floral cup. Many connoisseurs prefer 2nd flush Darjeeling due to its fuller body and more pronounced astringency whilst retaining much of the delicacy and floral characteristic of a 1st flush tea.

Okayti Estate teas became popular amongst the aristocracy of England in the 1920’s, and its name is due to the fact that people used to say it was the only ‘Okay Tea’!
